Antibody Bestiary
Planet Sanguon has recently become host to many deadly species of Viroids.
With each entry to Antibody’s Bestiary, we’ll show you a different one of them.
#01 - Splitter
A Splitter is one of Sanguon’s cells that has been infected by a Viroid. They have multiplied inside of the cell, and there are now five little Splitlings in there. You can see (and hear) these little creatures wriggling around, stretching and pulling the cell’s wall. They aren’t planning on leaving their “childhood home” yet, which is why you can hear their little voices coming from the cell, harmonizing contentedly.
In-game, Splitters idly float through the level, not paying any attention to the player or other enemies. If the player shoots one, however, the cell wall will burst and expose five angry Splitlings. They are hell-bent on taking revenge on the one that has destroyed their comfy home, and will chase the player relentlessly.
#02 - Splitlings
Splitlings live peacefully inside of a Splitter, until it gets shot by the player. Once this happens, the cell wall ruptures and five of these creatures emerge from within. You could call them siblings, as they’re all born from the same surrogate mother; an infected cell that used to belong to Sanguon’s insides. They will attempt to take revenge on the one that destroyed their home, chasing their aggressor down as a swarm. Though their tiny frame and high-pitched cries make them seem anything but intimidating, underestimating a swarm of Splitlings can be the last mistake you ever make...
In-game, Splitings slowly but relentlessly chase the player around the level. Their sensory perception isn’t the greatest, and they’ll quickly lose track of their prey from a distance. Splitlings are not prone to forgiveness however, and will keep looking for the player until they find them again.
#03 - Mutant
A living reminder of mistakes made, a Mutant is the consequence of failing to protect your Chonklers. Bactoids, the most common Viroids on planet Sanguon, can abduct and encapsulate your faithful companions, turning them into Mutants. For the afflicted Chonkler, whose subconsciousness is still mostly its own, the mutation is a nightmare it cannot awake from. Taken over by Viroid instinct, the mutant tries to kill anything in its path, while the original Chonkler inside is forced to watch this unfold, like a series of violent non sequiturs it has no control over. Avoid subjecting your Chonklers to this fate, at any cost.
In-game, Mutants are quick and ferocious enemies. They chase the player until they are close enough to fire their cannons, spewing a ball of highly corrosive acid at their former friends. Mutants’ sensory capabilities far exceed those of other Viroids; they’ll spot the player from miles away. There’s no escaping them, you have to fight.
